SocialLaneBy TamaraHogenhout for SRE

You can enjoy lots of thing in the SlowLane: a light physical exercise, being outside, fresh air, a moment of relaxation and doing something out of the (technological) ordinary. But like most things in life it becomes even more enjoyable when it is done together. So whatever experience is provided for the SlowLane users (augmented reality, the SmartLane or dinosaurs) the social aspect should be considered as well. That is why I suggest SocialLane.

SocialLane is an online community to arrange a time and a place to cycle together. In the route are several points of gathering. Through the online application you can see who is leaving from where and at what time, so you can decide if you leave for example at 8:10 a.m. from the train station or wait ten minutes for the next group. This way you can meet new people (from other companies) or socialize with people you already know.

The online community in more detail:
Of course the application needs to be safe and secure. Normally users can only see each others nicknames. But when you approve a request to become friends you can also see each others profile. The application needs to be optimized for mobile devices, especially smart-phones. People can sign up with their social media account or make a new profile. I can imagine it could also be a great platform for companies and educational institutions in the Eindhoven-area to communicate, like for example job vacancies and new study courses.

A social melting pot of cyclists:
To encourage people to mingle with people from other companies, you could also show at what time a group passes a certain meeting point. This way a group can pick up other parties along the way. People can also send each other messages, for example: "Loved our talk: fresh insights; co-cycle again sometime?" The great thing about a community is that it never gets boring, that is why they call it social inter-activity.

Why do we need this again?
So you can experience the SlowLane together. Another reason is people working or doing a study, have really busy lives. So it would be nice if they could combine different activities in a relaxed way: networking, socializing, and transportation. But perhaps most important: it's fun.
