Vision
Slow Lane connects several hot spots. These are hot spots of knowledge, innovation, design and creativity. All of these hot spots represent the uniqueness of Eindhoven. The lane can develop into something more than just a mean of transportation. The track can develop into a showroom of proven technology and new technologies. Eindhoven is part of the smartest region of the world. That is why the track deserves a name that represents all of this: SMART LANE.
Showroom of Brainport Eindhoven
Only innovative products and techniques will be used for this smart lane. Several regional partnerships are needed. Cooperation between government, knowledge institutes and companies is needed. This triple helix approach is very typical for the strength of the Brainport region.
Roads with led lights and interactive information Smart Lane will be developed using a smooth surface with very low resistance. In order to increase the speed and decrease the use of power of vehicles used. The road surface looks like an electronic board. Parts of the track contain led panels that move along with the driver and give information. The information on the panels is based on the characteristics of the driver.
Energy Trees and Rain protection
The track will be powered and led using energy trees. These treelike sculptures contain thousands of solar panels. Between the solar trees there are cables that enable rain screens to be enrolled in case of rain. Being able to drive without getting wet by rain is one of the critical success factors of smart lane.
Smart Traffic Control System
A smart traffic control system provides users of the lane with personalized information on travel time, weather conditions, vehicle-parking possibilities, vehicle availability, and gives personalized mobility consultation.
Brainport Tour
Participants of the Brainport Tour use augmented reality glasses to provide them with additional information about companies that are close to the track, information about their products and services and their special actions and innovations.
Unique marketing concept
A marketing concept for companies along the track give them the opportunity to fully use the traffic on the smart lane for their action marketing
People movers and Urban Mobility Hubs
Most users will employ their own personal vehicles. Other will use People Movers and vehicles provided by Urban Mobility Hubs along the track. The People Movers are automated guided vehicles that travel a programmed routing. At the Urban Mobility Hubs, smart lane users are able to rent vehicles, from ordinary bikes to innovative electric vehicles.
Food & Beverage concepts
The hubs are food and beverage point at the same time, furnished by local designers, using unique food and beverage concepts developed by local artists
Cross Medial Campaigns
A cross medial campaign based on gaming technology will be developed to show the whole project to the general public. The campaign will show local innovations, will inform and surprise the local community and will guarantee that all promotion money is used in the most effective way. Giving smart lane the desired international exposure.
