Rowing seat = harnessBy Freddie (user closed their acc.. for Sports & Technology

When accelerating the boat, staying well seated is tough. Shortly before the Olympics, a simple seat belt was introduced to tie the rower firmly to the seat. The following idea provides a much more secure fit between rower and boat, resulting in better performance.
A carbon seat, integrated with a harness ('robust shorts') is firmly attached to the rails in the boat via a quick-release click system.
The harness seat offers a secure, playless fit between body and boat and therefore it enhances physical performance and avoids mental distraction. The harness seat is also safer than a belt because it clicks out by rotating the pelvis a bit, which in practice happens automatically when the boat tips over.
The harness seat can be adapted to the rowers individual body shape by making use of a resin that allows deformation when hot but becomes rigid at normal temperatures.
