My brother has spent a lot of time in hospital recently and I must say that the internet access system was a bit complicated. I'm pretty good with IT but it took me while to sort the connection.
Anyway, my idea involves the red button to call the nurse. This seems to be used for emergencies and also if you want a glass of water. The nurse comes to the bed (eventually) and then has to react accordingly. I think there should be a set of contact buttons to clearly identify emergencies from more minor issues. I'm sure this would make hospitals a bit more efficient as the nursing staff could prioritise how they react.
