This case is 1/2 on the unit all the time when devise is in use and open side is pointing down to keep rain and dirt out. To close you fold the metal parts together and then wrap the case material around it. 
It is made of a rubber neoprene with a thick nylon sewn to the outside for durability. 
If the original handle was to be used it would be cut to fit around it. Otherwise the case would have a handle or a shoulder strap or two straps to wear like a backpack. It could also have snap connectors to hook another one to it when you want to carry two at a time.
