This design is inspired by the principles of grasping. The goal was to create a really elementary shape while keeping the ergonomics of a door handle in mind. That is why the handle consists out of two main elements, one for the thumb and one for the palm of the hand.
 
Then the two elements of the handle are connected in a very simple way. Because of this connection the handle looks like it is made of folded metal plate which makes it interesting. The brushed finish of handle also adds to this illusion but it is still a casted aluminum piece.
 
Another advantage of this design is that it is a very open design and it hasn’t a large volume. Therefore less aluminum needs to be used to create this door handle in comparison to other door handles.
