Hi Im new here but have a question that has probably been asked before.;-) What happens if I submit to a challenge and am not rewarded, but find that the person who raised the challenge has used my idea anyway. What can I do about this Thanks

Check http://www.redesignme.com/terms_and_conditions/. " 4) You agree that by submitting your work to RedesignMe.com, the Challenge owner can use this idea in any way they want, for example to make a product out of it, even if they did not reward your for it with RDMs. "

Thats great .. so we agree to give our expertise and time with possibly no reward. Is that a fair deal ?

You just ahve to believe that the company running the challenge is playing it fair. I think that the design being rewarded are always (or mostly) the best ones.

I agree!! That the designers of redesignme are massively underpaid! There are currently 6000 designers on redesignme... The sphiphol challenge already has 104 posted designs with 12 days left and a "shared reward" of 2000Euros... A professional quote from a design Consultancy to design the interior of an airport would run into the hundreds of thousands! The work done would not be on the same level but the IDEAS/concept generation from the huge redesignme community are superior to that of a design consultancy.Potentially, 6000 brains brainstorming!! I suggest that as the redesignme community expand the RDM's must increase and be shared proportionally, as redesignme is and will become and evermore Powerful design tool for companies!! so they should pay realistic Amounts...

It is just a simple question of supply and demand.. Unfortunately not a desirable statement, but all too true. How can we counter this? Simple. What if our brightest minds made up a portal by themselves, offering the most creative product that redesignme displays now, but at a reasonable price. If redesignme becomes devoid of real design talent, this new service becomes more appealing. This new platform can then scour the web for both design competitions and design talent, offering initiators a better deal. But i really shouldnt discuss it on this Forum ;) You can also just make up your mind how much of your time you think a shot at those RDMs is worth ;) That's right about setting the price yourself... cheers R.

I'm sorry if i may have opened up a can of worms with my last comment... But it seems that the challenger gets a better deal than the designer... I still think Redesignme is a great idea and wish it develops to the stage where better funded projects come in once Redesignme has established it's true potential end exposure as a competitive online design consultancy. I myself will post a challenge soon for a logo as I believe in the true potential of this creative community!!

There is an argument that crowdsourcing competitions and spec work is evil, but I use ReDesign me to practice my design and presentation skills, explore my imagination, network with other designers and hopefully win a few credits to get some neat stuff. That, for me, is paying me with experience, recgnition as well as credits.
It is also a pleasant change from designing for everyday clients where I earn real money. ;)
Thanks. x
