English only?

Hello everyone, Since more than half of the RedesignMe community is non Dutch speaking, we are thinking of switching to English ONLY. This means that the navigation won't be in Dutch anymore and that you are asked to only submit content to the site in English. Our question is, do you think that making English the only language will make you contribute less to RedesignMe, equal or more?

For me, that would not be a problem. But I can image that Dutch or Flemish teenagers would have more difficulty explaining their ideas in English.

You could have dutch as a secondary language. Because we have had some challenges specifically aimed at dutch people. But it wouldn't have any effect on my redesigns.

I think making English the primary language looks more pro and serieus. It'd be nice to have a mother tongue flag in a corner of your avatar and perhaps a language flag for the challenges (to continue on Lecros' comment)?

If we keep the language flag in the challenges, don't you think people will keep commenting in their mother tongue?

That might be a problem, yes. Lecros said "Because we have had some challenges specifically aimed at dutch people", and I thought If this is true than people - if the primary language becomes English - should be notified. But Perhaps it's a bit overkill? People will notice it anyway when they read the description.

I can translate some english, but I think it's going to be a bit difficult for some people, I think that dutch redesigners are going to post less than earlier, and why can't we translate it to dutch anymore? with that flag buttons

I'm dutch. I vote for English. If young kids really have to compete, let their parents translate some parts... An English website will draw more serious challenges to this website. If Dutch companies insist on a more local competition, they could place a translation themselves, no? Or tell us that it's a local competition, so you can only submit designs when you live in the Netherlands, or somethign alike? Why would companies search for innovative ideas only in one country? There are lots of English speaking designers already. It's a .com website.
