Do’s:
- The wow! effect is important, so that passengers will remember their stay at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
- Look at other public locations like stations, parks, shopping malls or other airports, what should Schiphol integrate in their passenger terminal?
- Keep in mind that there are many different nationalities at the airport, each with their own culture.
- Please check the extra information on passenger needs and target groups under More files.
If you’re a designer keep in mind:
- Clarity: The lounge should remain a clear space that is easy to overlook. Passengers must be able to see where they are and where to go.
- Way-finding: the way-finding at an airport like Schiphol is very complex. Because of that, a clear view on signage is essential and placing extra signs is not desirable.
- Space: the space in Schiphol is limited and valuable.
- Basic needs: Take into account that the passengers at Schiphol love the view on the airplanes and have the need for daylight and fresh air. Research has shown that green (real) nature and a fresh, hygienic atmosphere works really well for the positive mood of the passengers. More information regarding the needs of passengers is available under More files.
- Investments: think of commercial benefits your idea can offer to Schiphol
